Important Information About Importing To Uganda

  • IMPORT REGULATIONS There is no age restriction to import in Uganda. You can import any vehicle of any year model. The vehicle must be right hand drive except ambulances and fire brigades.
  • NECESSARY DOCUMENTS • Bill of Lading
    • Export Certificate
    • Pro forma Invoice
    • JEVIC, EAA
    (Other documents might be included)
  • TRANSPORTATION Your vehicle will be shipped to Port of Mombasa, Kenya or Dar Es Salam, Tanzania. The shipment takes approximately 3-4 weeks.
  • Road inspection testRoad inspection test (JEVIC, EAA) is necessary for all vehicles imported in Uganda. The JEVIC, EAA certification will be checked at the Port as well as at the Uganda border.

IMPORT DUTIES AND REGULATIONS

  • Vehicles older than 10 years: 50% of the Custom Value for Environmental Tax.
  • Vehicles older than 5 years: 35% of the Custom Value for Environmental Tax.
  • For personal use, 1 person can import only 1 car with driver’s license of the country to which the car was exported.
